Description

What would you do in a zombie apocalypse? Or any emergency for that matter?

Test your response skills and help Wilson and the surrounding community partners hone their own skills by participating in our Zombie Apocalypse 2014!

We need all types of volunteers to play out all types of scenarios: "injured" & "uninjured", calm & hysterical, "living" & "dead" & "undead". The only limits are your schedule and your interests!

If you want to help in the first part of the scenario, you will need to show up by 12/12:30pm to be assigned your role and undergo application of moulage (if your character needs it). Moulage is the art of applying mock injuries, via make-up or plastic/latex "wounds", for the purpose of training Emergency Response Teams and other medical and military personnel. In the first scenario, we need some volunteers to be transported to the hospital - if you're up for that, indicate in the rsvp below. The first scenario will run from 2pm-4pm.

In the second part of the scenario, we need "infected" & "uninfected" participants - so zombies here's your chance! If you want to participate as a zombie, note that in your rsvp below and come decked out in your best zombie get-up. If you want to have moulage done, you need to show up by 12/12:30pm - but moulage is not required. Zombie costumes will be judged at the end of the scenario & prizes will be awarded. The second part of the scenario will run 4pm-5pm.

You can participate in just one part or both parts - your call! Just be clear in your rsvp about what you want to do. If you have any questions, contact Sherri Sadowski, Director of Residence Life at reslife@wilson.edu.

Please note, this form is for use by Wilson College community members only (faculty, staff, students, their guests, & third-party organizations like LPN, CVSM, Sage, US Security Assoc., etc.). All other participants need to register through their respective institutional affiliation or through Franklin County Department of Emergency Services. If you want to participate but are not a member of the Wilson College community, please contact Andrew Striker for more information at adstriker@franklincountypa.gov.

FAQs

Who will be participating in this event?

Wilson College is co-hosting this emergency response training simulation with Franklin County Department of Emergency Services (FCDES). FCDES has brought in many local players including hospitals, high schools, EMT and fire squads, and state and local police departments. This event is in collaboration with Summit Health, Franklin Fire Company, Chambersburg Police, West Shore EMS, Waynesboro Ambulance, PA South Central Taskforce, PA Department of Health, and PA Emergency Management Agency.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

While there are no age requirements, we do encourage parents to use discretion before involving children. Some of the activities and special effects may be disturbing to young children.

Can my friend/family/significant other participate?

Yes! We want as many participants as possible so we encourage you to recruit friends, family, etc. If you are a member of the Wilson community, please use this form to rsvp for yourself and each guest. Please complete a separate form for each person so that we can tell which role(s) each of you want.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

You need to wear clothing that can get dirty, stained, or cut - especially if you are playing an injured person. The moulage and character prep techniques may alter your clothing in irreversible ways. Zombies should come already made up in their own costume and make-up. If zombies want to use moulage, they must show up at noon.

No participant is permitted to bring any type of weapon, including toy weapons.

I have a class during that time. Can I be excused to participate?

You should go to class! Of course we would love your participation but school comes first. Check with your professor to see if they are getting their class involved in some way but know that this is not a mandatory event.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

If you have questions about Wilson College's participation in this event and/or the role campus community members can play, please contact Sherri Sadowski, Director of Residence Life at 717-262-2006 x3125 or reslife@wilson.edu.

If you have questions about the exercise as a whole or are not a member of the campus community, please contact the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services at 717-264-2813 or adstriker@franklincountypa.gov.

How soon do I have to register?

All registrations are due by Friday, October 17th so that we have time to make final assignments.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes! Just email reslife@wilson.edu

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

While helpful, it is not required. We will have a roster of all registrations.
